Membership launch drive after multi-million dollar revamp for
The Legends Fort Canning Park

Singapore, Wednesday, 7 January 2004 – The Legends Fort Canning Park today announced the launch of its membership drive for new members to join Singapore’s only premier town club set in a national park. The membership drive is launched with interest-free installment schemes being offered by four leading banks, namely, DBS Bank, UOB, Citibank and OCBC. The membership drive comes after a multi-million dollar luxury revamp to the grand, national heritage club building built in 1926.

Established as a premier town club, The Legends Fort Canning Park offers an ideal social and recreational club setting that caters to the exacting needs of busy executives and their families. The club boasts one of the best gyms and spa facilities in town, specialty restaurants and the soon-to-be-opened children’s learning and play centre among other full town club facilities. Members also enjoy privileges at The Legends Golf & Country Resort, a fully-affiliated world-class golf and country resort in Johor, offering a wide variety of members’ entertainment and recreational facilities like championship golf courses, guest rooms, swimming pool, mountain-biking or horse-riding that makes this membership stand out from the rest.

Commenting on the membership drive, Mr Oh Chee Eng, Chief Executive Officer of The Legends Fort Canning Park, said, ”We are pleased to have been able to make the investment to give existing and new members, facilities that are second to none. In addition, we have a team of professionals led by our General Manager, Mr Herbert Hofer, an Austrian with over 20 years of hotel and club management experience, who will develop the club to its fullest potential.”

The launch membership fee for The Legends Fort Canning Park is set at an affordable S$6,988.00, subject to GST, for a limited promotional period. Interest-free installment schemes offered by the participating banks range between 24 to 30 months and start as low as $233.00 per month. The transfer fee of S$1,000.00 will certainly be among the lowest in the market. New members will enjoy F&B credit worth S$1,000.00 at both clubs. The shareholders have given a written undertaking that any loans and borrowings, where the club property is provided as security, will be used for the club’s purposes only.

With the revamp of the grand colonial icon, the club now boasts many modern and luxurious, fitness and health, dining, meeting and events, and recreational amenities. Construction of the grand ballroom and the children’s enrichment and play centre at the Park Level are expected to be completed by June 2004. The club’s new facilities include the following:
